'Steal from the best'. There are lots of examples collected by Lilypond users from the mailing lists in the Lilypond snippet repository (LSR). Also look at the Mutopia project for examples of scores and parts generated using Lilypond.

- The Mutopia Project --The Mutopia Project includes free sheet music submitted by volunteers, all available asPostscript (.ps) and PDF (.pdf) files, for both A4 and Letter paper sizes, as well as Lilypond's own file format (.ly).
- The book Slave Songs of the United States has a digital edition made by Marcus Brinkmann, freely available in its Alpha version.
- The git repository of the first free-licensed opera by Valentin Villenave contains the full source code. See more...
- Musipedia is a search engine that lists thousands of musical works, stored as lilypond code.
- Tomás Luis de Victoria sheet music page has hundreds of choral scores typeset with LilyPond by Nancho Álvarez. Unfortunately, the source code needs to be updated to a more recent version of the language, but the task is in his TODO list.
